Product Improvements!!! Well folks, you asked for it, now you've got it. Our cork decoy line is now being made with wood heads only! For several reasons, the most important being customer demand, I am now making wood heads for all the cork decoy specie. I will begin with the staples - blacks, mallards, woodies, teal, bufflehead, goldeneye, oldsquaw - and gradually start to fill in the rest of the flock. These new heads will have it all, glass eyes, detailed bills, etc.... (photos to be posted this week!) All current orders for cork decoys with E. Allen heads will be completed as ordered unless otherwise specified when you ordered. All new orders will be for wood head corkers. New Decoy Series! I am also adding a line to the Taylor Decoy spread. Wood decoys will be a product I am rolling out for the upcoming season. Pine head and bodies, glass eyes, raised primaries and a great paint job are going to be the calling cards of these new blocks. Seaduck Hunting! I'm happy to announce that the long awaited SeaDuck Volume 1 DVD featuring Taylor Decoys is now available for purchase. Hunting takes place on Kodiak Island, the Puget Sound and the Chesapeake Bay. Click on the link to the right to view the promotional clip (dial-up users beware - it will take a while). "Oh Boy!" I said to myself as the UPS truck pulled up. I had just ordered a couple dozen new plastic decoys from a sporting goods catalog. This had to be them! I felt like a 6 year old at Christmas. I mumbled "Thanks" to the driver, took my package and sprinted to the back yard where I kept all of the tools of the hunt (or clutter as my wife calls it). With cardboard and packing material strewn over the yard I pulled out the bluebill decoys and ........ The paint was already peeling off of them. I told this to some hunting buddies at the diner the next morning. After being handed a tissue and a few words of condolence I grabbed myself by the wader straps and came up with a plan. From now on I'll make my own decoys. So I started making my own rig of dekes out of cork and used commerical heads made of urethane foam. These heads are made by people that know ducks and the detail and durability are second to none. Cork gunning blocks, hand made to my specifications - it's like hunting with the Old Duck Hunter's Association! Picture the perfect day - a brisk northeast wind blowing, a heavy overcast sky and a cold front pushing out of the north. With this front come the ducks. You're at your favorite hunting spot with your partner. Today is going to be one of those days that are remembered forever. The last thing that you need to do is worry that your decoys are not going to perform like you want. That's why you use TAYLOR DECOYS. I have used these decoys with great success. The decoys are made by a duck hunter for a duck hunter. That means that they are made for the worst conditions and rough treatment (including being shot - you know it happens from time to time). Basic principles are made mandatory for my decoy designs:
